In this newsletter we are going to introduce about how to choose a Pony Hair Brush. The pony hair is mainly use for watercolor and acrylic.
Since the brush belly is quite thick so it can hold and deliver the sufficient water and colors during painting.

Issues in Market

There are some General Issues for Pony Hair Brushes in market like:

1. The brushes hairs are easy drop off

2. Bad using experience because:

a) Hairs length are uneven

b) Dip after the water, brush toe is not tip

c) All the hair after using are spread out

How We Solve It

For solving these general issues in market and enhance the using experience we are mainly working in 2 aspects:

1) For Materials Choosing

Since pony hair is quite thin and easy break off so for Shanghai Beaux-Arts we only choose the top to middle part of the pony hair and cut the rest parts, then the hair will be sturdy stick into ferrule with glue. Also all the hairs we chosen are 90% top pony hair.

2) Make the Brush with interlocked technique only

Interlocked:
The better pony hair brush is wet before brush constructing to accentuate its natural curve. The brush-maker selects the proper amount of hair and one half is reversed, with each half curved inwards to give the brush its natural and distinctive interlocked shape. Interlocked pony hair brushes maintain their shape in continued use.

Without Interlocked:
On low cost pony hair brushes will not make with interlocked technique and the hair could not hold their shape as well.
