§   Hog bristle: The ultimate hard brush is made from the hairs on the back of a pig (hog), which are strong yet springy. Shanghai Beaux-arts only choose 0.12-0.14mm Chungking bristle make interlocked brush. Thicker bristle can offer better resilience. Also the bristles have natural split-ends, which increase the amount of paint they hold. Used for oils and acrylics.

§   Taklon: For acrylics and oils Taklon can be fantastic and a good alternative to pure natural hair. And taklon are more durable than natural hair. But normally taklon is too soft, so to ensure the same resilience and hardness with bristle we need to choose the 0.1-0.15mm taklon.

§   Sable: The ultimate soft brush is made from the hairs on the tail of a sable marten; these taper naturally, so when they're put into a brush they form a point. Sable brushes are expensive, but are renowned for their softness, flexibility, and fine point. It normally using for drawing the details.

Brushes Come in Different Shapes
